Taste of Paris: Aligre Market (75012)

Paris, Aligre, Food Market, France

It's Friday and time for a trip to Pareee! Oui, it's my way of making you travel to La Belle France through this little blog, I hope you enjoy the virtual trip.

Anyone who has been to France knows that we have a strong food market culture in Paris. I couldn't possibly blog about all of them but if you're ever interested in a food market marathon here is a great listing.

Paris Food Market, ALigre

Today, we're going to have a look at Aligre Market which takes place every day except Mondays in the 12th district in Place Aligre.

It's a great place to visit, there are many fruit and veg stalls outside but also many food shops located on the neighbouring streets. There is a food hall in a building that was built in 1779 so the Aligre market actually dates from as far back as the 18th century.

It's buzzing, the vendors shout to attract people, it's colourful and vibrant: a real experience for all of your senses!

The best part in my opinion is the indoor part of the market because it's where you find the cheesemongers, butchers, fishmongers, etc...

From cheese to charcuterie, you'll find everything for a perfect picnic.

Mr. FFID and bought some nice food and then headed to Place des Vosges to enjoy it al fresco.
