I've always wanted to go to Electric Picnic but have never made it. I'm a little mad at myself for not going in 2012 when The Cure played, or last year when Björk was there.
Anyhow, this belongs in the past and guess what? I'm going to Electric Picnic this year, yay! I'm so excited at the idea of seeing Portishead and Beck live, as well as Irish artists like The Minutes, Ham Sandwich and Cathy Davey. EP is not just a music festival, there are plenty of different things going on such as comedy gigs, craft workshops and debates, I'm so looking forward to it.
For all the food lovers out there the Theatre of Food in the Mindfield arena of the festival is where you can attend food talks, tastings, cooking demos, manifestos, a food quiz and many more events featuring amazing Irish chefs, food writers, artisans and people from the Irish food and drink industry. There is a fantastic line-up than can be found here.
I still can't believe it but I'll be there too. I'm going to give a cooking demo, featuring a dish from Reunion Island, where my dad is originally from. My demo will start at 6pm in Theatre of Food, food & wine writer Leslie Williams will be the MC. I'm a bit nervous because I'm not a professional chef and I've never cooked in front of people other than in my own kitchen but I'm excited at the same time. If you're at Electric Picnic on Saturday evening please come and say hi! It would be nice to see some friendly faces and get some support, plus you'll get to see the mysterious Mr. FFID by my side. The only thing is that you're gonna have to chose between watching me cooking or listening to Hozier, damn it!
