Rue du Nil in Paris is home to Gregory Marchand's empire with his three food businesses: Frenchie Restaurant, Frenchie To Go and Frenchie Wine Bar.
The restaurant is always packed and reservations are highly recommended but just across from it there is a fantastic wine bar which I was lucky enough to visit with Mr. FFID. It's a bit hip but not too much with a mix of locals and English speaking expats sharing plates of food while sipping good wine. The wine bar menu comprises of charcuterie, pasta, antipasti, fish, meat, cheese and desserts. Portions are relatively small and made to share, each dish arriving at your table when it is ready. If you're lucky enough you might even get to sit by the window which separates the wine bar from the kitchen and look at the chefs working their magic. We only had three plates and a dessert but it was top notch: homemade terrine, the most amazing sweetbread nuggets, a perfect cheese plate and a chocolate caramel butter passion fruit pot which was outstanding.
It's busy, truly Parisian and so good!
