The Green Door Market

The Green Door Market isn't new and I've been many times but I never thought to blog about it until now. It's located in Newmarket Dublin 8, next to the newly opened Teeling Whiskey Distillery. Open Thursday and Friday from 12 to 7pm and Saturdays from 9.30pm to 4pm, the advantage is that it's covered which comes in handy on our little island where the weather can be quite moody.

I've only been on Saturdays and I'm not sure how busy it is during the week but if you're in the city centre or in the Dublin 8 neighbourhood it's definitely a place you should check out for some food shopping.

It's not a big market but you have everything you need available to purchase: fish and shellfish from John Fitzsimons fishmonger, organic meat from Coolanowle, organic breads from Tartine Bakery, cheese and other lovely products from the Liliput Trading Company... You can even get some lovely flowers!

What I like is the availability of organic products and the fact that you can get vegetables grown in Ireland from a few of the stalls. There is also a vintage food truck selling crêpes and stalls selling sweet baked goods.

The Salt and Pepper coffee stall in the corner sells lovely coffee from Cloudpicker and also has a few cakes.

It is a relatively quiet market (that's why I encourage you to go) but they made an effort to make it welcoming with a nice seating area recently revamped by Queen of Neons and live music. A visit to the Green Door Market is something to add to your Saturday stroll!
