Life: On Marrying Mr. FFID

It's July already and besides the fact that it means half the year is behind us, it's also the month I'm getting married to Mr. FFID.

I don't really talk much about my personal life here on the blog, but I did want to write my thoughts about this as Mr. FFID is part of the blog as much as I am and we are about to start another chapter of our life.

When I moved to Ireland I was planning to stay for about six months, but all that changed when I met Mr. FFID five weeks after I arrived. The funny thing is our relationship started with him and his flatmate cooking what was quite possibly the most atrocious meal I've ever had. But there was something I loved about him straight away, ok I liked his guitar but I also had the feeling he was special (and she starts crying as she types). Then followed many years of partying, working, traveling and eating...

We've been together for over 11 years now and we've been engaged for over four. Last year we decided to finally get married and I can't believe we're almost there.

I don't want to get all cheesy but Mr. FFID is really someone. Besides the fact he can handle my high maintenance personality he has helped me to grow both personally and professionally over the last few years.

When I started the blog in 2012 I was not in a happy place professionally and on the day I lost the job I hated he was the one who took the afternoon off to treat me for lunch and a glass of wine and made me realise it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

He may not have a first name on this blog and it might look like he's only a hand model but as well as being the love of my life he's a pillar of French Foodie in Dublin.

He's the one who believed I could start a company a few years ago and the one who tells me to say yes to scary things on a daily basis. He's the one who gives out to me if I don't feel like blogging and tells me to think of my core readers. He's the one who motivates me when freelancing makes me want to cry. He's the one that I can thank for having the incredible chance to study at Ballymaloe Cookery School. He's the one who supports my dreams and believe in me much more than I do.

As well as being a company director and hand model, he will always be my favourite dining companion. He doesn't get upset if it takes 45 minutes to decide where to go for brunch, he doesn't get impatient even when he's not allowed to eat his food before I take a picture of it. He will eat 10 pastries in a row all in the name of research and he doesn't mind if I plan every meal of every day in advance our trips aboard.

So merci Mr. FFID for being my favourite human being. The final countdown to our wedding is on!
