Travel: London's Borough Market

A place every food lover simply must visit when in London is without a doubt: Borough Market. Located in Southwark, Borough Market is the oldest food market in London and one of the best I've been to. It's open from Monday to Saturday but the full market in on from Wednesday to Saturday.

I've heard it's always packed on Saturdays so I was delighted to be able to visit on a Wednesday, just after it opened. It was relatively quiet and we could really enjoyed browsing all the stalls.

I've seen quite a lot of markets in my time but Borough is particularly pretty I have to say, it's kind of like the Disneyland of food markets, with delightful looking displays of produce and stylish food stalls.

There is everything you could wish for, from vegetables and fruits to craft beer, from street food stalls to pastries and breads.

It's another one of those places that make you wish you had more than one stomach, as it's impossible to taste everything.

There were lots of cheese stalls (to my greatest pleasure) and also a beautiful cheese shop next to the market where I spotted some great Irish products.

It was very difficult to choose what to eat from the street food stalls...

Mr. FFID couldn't resist the call of the hog-roast...

While I went for an amazing salt beef bagel, it was out of this world and some of it ended up on my camera lens, hence the blur on the pictures... oops...

I was so stuffed I couldn't eat anything else but I had to have a Pimm's, even if it was only 11am...

I don't think you need anymore convincing; Borough market is the food heaven you absolutely can't miss if you are ever in London!
